Federal Law Prohibits the Carriage of Hazardous Materials...

Hazardous Materials Do Not Pack in Luggage or Carry Onboard:

Fireworks:  Signal flares, firecrackers, sparklers or other explosives

Flammable Liquids or Solids:  Fuel, paints, solvents, lighter fluid, matches

Household Items:  Drain cleaners and solvents

Compressed Gases:  Spray cans, butane fuel, scuba tanks, propane tanks, oxygen bottles, self-inflating rafts

Weapons:  Loaded firearms, ammunition, gunpowder, mace, tear gas or pepper spray

Other Hazardous Materials:  Dry ice, gasoline-powered tools, camping equipment with fuel, wet-cell batteries, oxidizers, corrosives, radioactive materials (including radio-pharmaceuticals), poisons, infectious substances

The above list is not all-inclusive.

There are special exceptions for small quantities up to 70 oz. (2 kg or 2 liters) of medicinal and toilet articles carried in your luggage and certain smoking materials carried on your person.  For further information, check with your airline representative.

It's the Law...you must declare your hazardous materials to the airline or air package carrier.  A violation of the Federal Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR Parts 171-180) can result in five years' imprisonment and penalties of $250,000 or more (40 U.S.C. 5124).
