INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this insurance manual is to provide summary information
for University employees related to insurance coverages as provided
through the State of Maryland, Insurance Division of the State
Treasurer's Office. Although this manual is not an all inclusive
document it should answer the most frequently asked questions
related to how or where to direct insurance related inquiries
and how to process claims for the coverage it does describe.
Finally, the Appendix section will provide procedural instructions
and samples of the forms necessary to submit claims in the areas
that are discussed. Specific areas not covered by this manual are: Employee
Health Insurance benefits administered by the Office of Human
Resources Management and Student Health Insurance related matters
administered by the Office of Student Accounts. Finally, because this insurance manual is intended only as an
internal resource numerous sections have been reproduced from
other State sources without specific reference to source. The
sole intent is to condense and present information in a format
that facilitates information dissemination and claim process
at the University.
