Biological Safety Cabinets

Audit finding: Not certified – Biosafety Cabinet(s)

Adverse consequence(s): Potential health hazard due to an inoperable biological safety cabinet

Corrective action: Biosafety cabinets must be certified annually, after repairs, and after relocation. Several vendors offer this service, including B&V at (800) 851-9081, and LFC at (703) 404-4300. If the biosafety cabinet has failed inspection, all biological and material hazards must be removed and stored appropriately. Work may not be resumed until the unit is fully operational and re-certified.
