The Pratt Street
garage is a pre-cast concrete fire resistive construction
parking structure with three below grade and eight open
air above grade parking levels, with a Athletic Facility
(Gym) on the top level, which is a Class "C" Place
of Assembly. The gym area is limited to 240 persons
at any given time, and due to structural design, dances
and other similar functions are prohibited.
An interior fire alarm system with manual pull
stations has been installed throughout which transmits a
signal to the Pine Street Police Station.
A dry pipe sprinkler system has been installed in the
below grade portion of the garage with water flow alarms
and valve supervisory switches interconnected to the
fire alarm system. Two manual dry standpipes with 2 1/2
inch fire department hose valves have been installed in
the stairways at each level. A fire department
connection is located on the Pratt Street side of the
building at the SW corner of the building. Knox
FDC caps have been installed on the fire department
connection to prevent vandalism.
Fire department suppression equipment has access on
the east, south, and west sides.
Two stairways and ramps provide exit capacity for the
gym and garage.
Portable fire extinguishers in "break plastic" front
cabinets have been installed through-out.
