Thurgood Marshall Law Library

20 N. Paca Street
(Constructed 1980)
(Renovated 2002)

Fire Box 13-39

The Thurgood Marshall Law Library is a non-combustible constructed four storied with basement facility housing attendant offices, library stacks, meeting rooms and a computer center.

An interior fire alarm system composed of manual pull stations, smoke detectors, duct detectors (supervisory), heat detectors (supervisory) and visual/audible devices transmit signals to the Pine Street Police Station.

The library is protected throughout by a wet pipe sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is boosted by a 750 gpm fire pump, which also serves the Law School and is located in the basement mechanical room of the Law School.  Fire Department 2 1/2 inch standpipe connections are located in the center open stairwell and in the enclosed northwest and southeast stairwells. Additional connections are available from the Law School northeast stairwell at the south end of the library building.  The fire department connection is located at the fire department entrance to the Southeast stairwell on Paca Street.  Knox FDC caps have been installed on the fire department connection to prevent vandalism.

Portable fire extinguisher's are located throughout the facility.

Fire department suppression equipment has access to the north and east sides of the building.

A Knox Box has been installed next to the fire alarm annunciator with keys for elevators, mechanical areas, electric areas and fire alarm panels to be used by the fire department as needed.  A key for the Knox FDC caps is also located in teh Knox Box.

This building is classified as an Assembly Occupancy.
