352,263 Square Feet

Fire Box 13-48

The Grand Parking Garage is a 11 storied building of fire resistive construction.   There are offices on the 1st floor and parking facilities on the remaining floors.  There are two exits from each floor.  Exiting on the North end is through an enclosed stairwell which discharges into the 1st floor lobby.  The South exit stairwell is open and discharges onto Paca Street.

Standpipes are dry with hose valves in stairwells on each level.  Fire department connections are located on the Paca Street side on the SW corner of the building and on the Fayette Street side of the building.  Knox caps have been installed on the fire department connection to prevent vandalism.

Portable fire extinguisher's are located throughout the facility.

Grand Parking Garage office area at the North end of the first floor is equipped with an interior fire alarm system consisting of manual pull stations, smoke detectors, audible/visual devices, sprinkler flow switches, and valve supervisory switches interconnected to the Pine Street Police Station.  No other alarm system exists in the garage.

Fire Department apparatus has access to three sides of the building, Paca Street, Fayette Street, and an alley on the South side.

Knox Boxes have been installed in the South elevator lobby and entrance to the office area next to the fire alarm panel with keys for elevators, mechanical areas, electric areas, storage rooms and fire alarm panels to be used by the fire department as needed.  A key for the Knox FDC caps is also located in the Knox Box in the South Elevator Lobby.
