The Garage at the Saratoga Building is a fourteen story high-rise building of pre-cast concrete and fire resistive construction and brick faced exterior walls.  The facility contains service and retail space on the first floor, parking on floors 1-11, and offices on floors 12-14.  Facilities Management occupies the 14th floor and the 13th floor is occupied by Procurement and other administrative offices.  Pharmacy School including the Maryland Poison Control Center occupies the 12th floor.

The building is totally protected with a wet pipe sprinkler system on the 1st floor service and retail areas and office floors 12-14 and a dry pipe system on the parking garage floors 1-11.  The riser for the dry system is wet to each floor with a dry pipe valve on each floor of the SE stairwell.  The air compressor for the dry system is in the fire pump room.  There is a 750 gpm fire pump located in the fire pump room directly to the west of the fire command center.  The fire department connection is located on the East (Arch Street) side of the building next to the garage entrance.  Knox FDC caps have been installed on the fire department connection to prevent vandalism.

Portable fire extinguisher's are located throughout the facility.

A complete fire alarm system consisting of manual pull stations, voice audible/visible alarms, sprinkler water flow and valve supervisory devices and duct smoke detectors (supervisory) has been installed and is interconnected to the Pine Street Police Station.

A Fire Command Center (FCC) is located in the Ground Floor lobby behind the guard desk.  The FCC contains the following equipment:

1)  Firefighter phone system with handsets.

2) Building PA System via the voice evacuation alarm system.

3) A dedicated outside telephone line not within the UMB system.

4) Main fire alarm control panel.

5) Elevator status panel.

6) Smoke control system controls.

7) Status of emergency generator annunciation display.

8)  Building plans.

Firefighter telephone jacks are located within each stairway landing and each elevator lobby.

Exits directly to the outside of the building from the upper floors through enclosed pressurized stairwells are located on the North and South ends of the building.  There is also an enclosed stairwell between the Ground and 1st floors in the NE corner of the building.

Fire department suppression equipment has access to the North and East sides of the structure and limited access on the South side.

A Knox Box has been installed in the fire command center with keys for elevators, mechanical areas, electric areas and fire alarm panels to be used by the fire department as needed.  A key for the Knox FDC caps is also located in the Knox Box.

Access by persons with disabilities is via the main entrance located on the South side of the building in the center.

This building is a Parking Garage (Storage) and Business occupancy.
